1918 - 2018
Commemorating the centenary of the Armistice that marked the end of World War One, Eastbourne saw the results of a year-long research project displayed across the town.
The project saw volunteers research and record details of the lives of all the 1,258 men and women from Eastbourne who died during the conflict and whose names appear on the Memorial Board in the Town Hall.
Poignant Street Exhibition
Across Eastbourne a range of pavement panels displayed the stories of 130 of the soldiers who fought in WW1. Situated outside their original homes, the stories tell us more about what happened to them in the battlefields - including how they died, and what happened next for those who safely returned from the war.
